UNITED WAYS' ALICE
The 2017 United Way ALICE National Report is broadly recognized and referred to as the national standard for providing the framework, language and tools to measure and understand the struggles of the growing number of households in our communities that do not earn enough to afford basic necessities. They refer to this population as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed).
Susan Sidebottom was the photographer for the report, using her images to humanize the more than 80 pages of statistics, offering a focal point around which viewers can engage. The photographs in this report provide a critical link between organizations addressing the issue of working poverty and the broader community who live and work alongside ALICE.
